Gentlemens Tonic
Gentlemens Tonic,
London's hidden mens spa...
Set in the back streets of Central London, Gentlemen's Tonic is a place that shouldn't be missed.
Walking past you wouldn't notice that there is a top of the line men's spa, THAT's RIGHT men's spa. A sanctuary for us men where we can get our needs catered for, relieving the pressure of outside life without ridicule from your friends for going to a 'spa'... "That's for girls isn't it!" ...NO!
You can have a trim or a shave and don't think you need to be a
Metro-sexual man to go there!
When I walked through the door I was greeted by a lovely receptionist who showed me to the waiting area. Manly black leather sofa, FHM magazine & masculine furnishings... this is a bachelor pad not a Spa. I feel really comfortable & I'm liking the experience already ...
"Cup of Tea sir" can this get any better???
My therapist Anicka takes me downstairs to the treatment rooms. After getting changed, she explained to me about the treatment I'm having (sports massage) and ask me for "the areas to work on". Using almond oil, she warms up my muscles and proceeds to massage my Traps (Trapezius), Delts (deltoids), Lats (latissimus Dorsi) or Upper back and shoulders. In my eyes a sign of a good therapist is someone that pays attention to detail while doing a massage by asking you questions "are you comfortable" & "is the pressure ok", talking to you throughout the massage and making sure they are working on what you want them to rather than what they want to. One thing I hate is when a therapist "takes the easy way out" and massages the easy areas.
Due to my profession I understand both skincare, training/stretching and manipulating the muscles in the body, so I started to probe Annika to see what knowledge she had and how much she really knew what she was talking about. I can say that she seems like a really experienced therapist with a huge knowledge on both muscle toning, groups, skincare and most importantly understanding how to talk to us men about using skincare without making them feel feminine or alienated! She constantly kept the pressure on and made sure she worked the area's I'd specified at the beginning. Finishing off the massage on my Biceps, Triceps, forearms and hands (whole arm) and leaving me to have a shower.
Now there are many salons that have a massage room with a "shower", but this was a proper shower with a big head and plenty of hot water, just what I needed to feel refreshed after my relaxing massage.
Would I go there again is the real question? YES
Would I have the same therapist? YES
Would I recommend it to my alpha male mates? YES
...but I might leave out the fact that I use their skincare!
